Roma si prepara ad accogliere uno dei protagonisti assoluti della musica contemporanea. Pat Metheny, leggendario chitarrista e compositore statunitense vincitore di 20 Grammy Award, sarà in concerto all’Auditorium Parco della Musica Ennio Morricone per uno degli appuntamenti più attesi della stagione estiva. Un ritorno di grande prestigio che riporta nella capitale un artista capace, come pochi altri, di attraversare linguaggi e generi mantenendo intatta una cifra stilistica immediatamente riconoscibile.
Nel tour mondiale SIDE-EYE III+, Pat Metheny è affiancato da i suoi storici compagni di viaggio Chris Fishman al pianoforte e tastiere, e Joe Dyson alla batteria.

Per questo tour, Pat Metheny ha voluto coinvolgere il bassista californiano Jermaine Paul, e il percussionista e cantante Leonard Patton.

Il concerto romano si inserisce nel percorso artistico più recente di Metheny, legato al progetto "Side-Eye", concepito come una piattaforma musicale in continua evoluzione. "Side-Eye" nasce infatti con l’intento di creare uno spazio aperto di confronto tra generazioni, un laboratorio sonoro in cui il musicista americano condivide il palco con alcuni tra i più interessanti e innovativi strumentisti della scena newyorkese. Un’idea che riflette una visione profonda della musica come esperienza collettiva e come occasione di crescita reciproca, nel solco di una tradizione che Metheny ha vissuto in prima persona sin dagli esordi.

"There is almost no way to replicate exactly what is on the record with just the trio, nor will that be the explicit goal on this next round,” Metheny says. “But the material on the record can be played a lot of different ways, which is always a good sign. I am already thinking ahead to the next stage of the Side-Eye thing, and the broader palette of this record plus my thoughts about what’s next gave me the idea of bringing in an incredible young bassist from California, Jermaine Paul, and the percussionist and vocalist Leonard Patton, who is a musician I have wanted to include in my thing for years. But the core of the band will remain Chris Fishman, Joe Dyson, and me — continuing what we have been working on together on the bandstand and in the studio during this really interesting musical time we have shared together."
