Rodrigo y Gabriela

After years of waiting, six-string virtuoso duo Rodrigo y Gabriela arrive Oct. 2 at the Auditorium Parco della Musica Ennio Morricone to present their new album "In Between Thoughts... A New World." Rodrigo y Gabriela grew up with an eclectic mix of classic rock, heavy metal, a rather rare alchemy of influences that inspires their work. Shortly after their first band disbanded, the two musicians harnessed acoustic guitars and arrived in Ireland, where they ran out of funds and found themselves forced to busk on Grafton Street in Dublin. This sudden turn of events caused them to cross paths with Irish singer-songwriter Damien Rice, whose first headlining show they opened. The duo soon became known for their incredible live performances, and in 2002 they made their recording debut with "re-Foc," and continued their career with eight more kaleidoscopic and critically acclaimed albums, including "Area 52" (recorded with a Cuban orchestra), "9 Dead Alive," which highlighted their rock nature, and the 2020 Grammy Award winner in the Best Contemporary Instrumental Album category, "Mettavolution." Milestones in Rodrigo y Gabriela's career include a show at the White House in the presence of Barack Obama and the President of Mexico, a headlining show on the Jazz World Stage at Glastonbury, a long string of sold-out performances at prestigious venues such as London's Royal Albert Hall and the Sydney Opera House.
