Jany McPherson, born in Cuba, where she has collaborated with artists such as Omara Portuondo and Buena Vista Social Club, is an extraordinarily talented pianist, highly original in her phrasing and improvisation with which she manages to evoke the sounds of her homeland with great modernity. Extremely relevant is her recent collaboration with John McLaughlin , who wanted her as his "Special Guest" on several concerts on his 2022 summer tour, including those at the North Sea Jazz Festival and the Montreux Jazz Festival. The new album "A Long Way" follows her previous recording "Solo Piano!" and contains all of her original compositions backed by a powerful technique that moves between storytelling and improvisation, allowing McPherson to make her piano style always recognizable.
