Mathematician and director of the Mauro Picone Institute for Applications of Computation at CNR. He has been carrying out intensive dissemination activities for many years through the Maddmaths! website supported by SIMAI (Italian Society of Applied and Industrial Mathematics) and UMI (Italian Mathematical Union); he is also chairman of the European Mathematical Society's Committee on the Dissemination of Mathematics. Since 2013, together with Andrea Plazzi, he has been in charge of the science-comics event Lucca Comics&Science and the Comics&Science books published by CNR.
