An ornithologist at ISPRA, he is involved in national and international bird conservation projects and conducts research in the field of bird ecology and behavior, mainly marine birds. Using miniaturized GPS devices placed on the birds' backs, it analyzes their movements, trying to identify the factors that determine their choices and selected areas to feed. He collaborates with researchers and research institutes around the world; he is the author of more than 100 scientific publications and numerous popular articles.
