An ecologist and researcher at the Anton Dohrn Zoological Station in Naples and at the National Biodiversity Future Center, his studies range from the evolution of microorganisms to ecosystem dynamics. He is involved in basic and applied research for natural resource management. Communicates science through music and literature. He is the author, for Hoepli, of The Micro Jungle of the Sea (2020) and Anthropica (2023) and edits the Deep Blue column in The New Ecology.
