Imagine an old Andean god, tall and bearded, coming to earth after years of chaos and bringing a new order among humans. Imagine a volcano located in Bolivia at an elevation of 5,400 meters. And then think of mysterious, original music with a strong narrative capacity, sung with a tenor saxophone and enriched by the aid of vocal loops and percussion of the human body, or performed, in some pieces, by the most classical of ensembles: a jazz quartet. All this is “Thunupa.”<\/p>\n
A South American legend, the name of a towering volcano, and now a record, which comes after “rolling years” experienced as an adventure and suddenly explodes, transporting listeners to an unhurried time and an undefined space that leaves ample freedom to the imagination.<\/p>\n
The disc, produced by Parco della Musica Records, consists of ten original tracks, which provide a way to discover and appreciate the leader’s improvisational development, his personal search for sound and particular compositional vein.
