Danilo Rea explores the harmonics of famous themes from novels and operas at the piano. Passion and emotion in general are the tools with which the musician approaches these immortal heights, rigorously respecting all the while the beauty of the originals which he reinterprets in a pure and extremely rich jazz vein. The recording offers sublime renditions of Puccini, Gershwin, Schumann, Bernstein, Bizet and Mascagni. Rea’s performance style, which hinges on the tension between intimist forms and free interpretation, reaches out to embrace non-classical worlds as well.
