ROBERTO PECORELLI
He received his diploma in trombone at the Conservatory of Santa Cecilia in Rome. He immediately began to collaborate with the leading Italian opera and symphonic orchestras, working under the direction of the finest conductors, and completed his studies in Chicago in the U.S.A. under the guidance of Charles G. Vernon (bass trombone for the Chicago Symphony Orchestra). He became interested in jazz by way of the big band laboratories at the Scuola Popolare di Testaccio in the early ‘80s. With the musicians Gazzani and Culasso he collaborated with various Italian big bands and bands of other kinds over the following years, until he came to work with the Roma Jazz Ensemble in the ‘90s (a band that works with jazz musicians of international fame), which then became the PMJO – Parco della Musica Jazz Orchestra in 2005.
