MARIO CORVINI
The first voice in the trombone section of the PMJO, he is one of the orchestra’s principal arrangers and is in charge of a large part of its repertoire, much of which comes from the Roma Jazz Ensemble directed by him and Pietro Iodice since ’93. A musician’s son and Claudio’s brother, he began to play at the age of ten with his father Alberto Corvini, the formidable and much missed first trumpet for the RAI Orchestra; later he collaborated with various bands whose members include musicians of the calibre of Enrico Pieranunzi, Giovanni Tommaso, Bob Mintzer, Giorgio Gaslini, Michael Brecker, Slide Hampton, Gary Bartz and Kenny Wheeler. He has participated in several arrangement and composition competitions and has also worked in the field of television for many years.
