Carlo Fuortes was born in Rome in 1959. He is an economist with over twenty years experience and study of the cultural sector economy and also a consultant, specialised in the management of museums, cultural assets, live performance events, television and film production. In this capacity he has worked for both state and local museums, fine arts and heritage departments, cultural associations, theatres, state and private firms.
He was the Director of the Teatro di Roma between 1998 and 2001. Later he became General Director of the Palazzo delle Esposizioni and Rome’s Scuderie del Quirinale between 2002 and 2003.
He is the head of IZI s.p.a., a company specialised in financial and economic analysis.
He also teaches Economics of Cultural Events and the Heritage sector at the Scuola di specializzazione della Facoltà di Conservazione dei Beni Culturali (cultural assets conservation faculty) dell’Università della Tuscia.
Carlo Fuortes is the author of a number of essays and publications on economics and management in the cultural sector, and is Vice-president of the Associazione per l'Economia della Cultura (Association for Cultural Economics) and a member of the Federculture Executive Council.
